EMPOWER West and Central Africa (WCA) is a three-year project funded by USAID/BHA with the goal of making the humanitarian architecture in the five targeted countries of Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Mali, and Niger accountable, localized and inclusive.
The project supports local humanitarian actors (LHA) through capacity strengthening trainings on a variety of operational and technical subjects and provides small grants to some of these LHAs to overcome financial barriers to participation and leadership in the humanitarian coordination system.
The project also works closely with humanitarian coordination leadership in each country to adapt the architecture to reduce those barriers as well. This document provides an overview of the project, its objectives and its overarching mid-term achievements.
